In this sense, it is distinct from health promotion, which seeks to prevent disease before it becomes a public health problem.
The most important component of a healthy lifestyle is well-being. It is the ability to enjoy one’s life without feeling incessant pain or worry. It can only be realized if a person takes time out from work and other activities to engage in positive activities such as regular exercise, reading, laughing, and dining with friends. A well-balanced diet and physical activity help maintain a wellness condition and lead to better health and longer life.
However, even with a healthy diet and physical activity, it is still possible to suffer from some diseases or ill effects. These may include cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, stroke, and cancer.
