University of Missouri Kansas City’s UMKC Dental School offers two-degree programs in Dentistry: the Master of Science in Dental Surgery and the Doctor of Dental Surgery. The School of Dentistry has been accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the National Practitioner Data Bank. The School of Dentistry offers two different undergraduate degree programs. One is Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), which provides students with the knowledge to do basic surgery in the oral cavity. The Master of Science in Dental Surgery is a two-year program that provides students with the knowledge to perform basic oral surgery in the mouth and jaw areas. The Bachelor of Dental Surgery provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform all aspects of dentistry in general including prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, oral radiology and pathology, pediatric dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dental surgery and more. Both the programs are designed to prepare students for positions as orthodontists, periodontists, dentists and full-time dentists after graduation from the umkc dental school.
